Saturday 30th October 2010 - Cher Lloyd

A giggle at Tesco Mary, the odd quip about Louis and his aggravating remarks, Matt's hat, Trey with a C's teeth, Katie's pigeon shit eyelashes, and CHER LLOYD'S rapping... Wait, rapping?

This week, it was Halloween week. All the songs had to be spooky, haunting, goosebump-creating. I didn't expect Cher to come out and sing a bit of Shakespears Sister. She sand 'Stay' tonight, and it was safely the most beautiful rendition of the song I've ever heard. And not a rap in sight.

It was scary, it was haunting, it was emotional, it was just what was needed to end the show. I was genuinely very shocked by it. Mum and Dad shouting at the telly saying she was crap, me sat in the corner telling my followers that actually, that could have just won the hearts of millions of ITV watchers.

I didn't like Cher one bit, but if she keeps singing, and not resorting to pointless rapping, she'll have my vote.

Bearing in mind the tickets for the new tour went on sale at 9, and there were 20 million hits on Ticketmaster alone, we were very lucky. But God I was fed up of F5 by the end of the day. £60 a ticket. And I'm not even going.

We had a dodgy call from some fake company because Katie gave some details away a bit stupidly, we had 3 laptops going, 2 PCs, 3 phones and Mum on the phone to get them. What a faff. I bet they wouldn't have done that for me for Kylie.

But whose to say that Kylie isn't gonna be with Take That?! Just throwing that out there.....

He's turned a team around from relegation candidates in the Championship, to genuine Europe-pushers in the Premier League. In 2 seasons. He's had a very small budget, has nurtured what he had in the first place, and made the squad good again. It's amazingly impressive.

So let him off. They were promoted in the summer, so leave him be. He'll do exactly what he wants, and Newcastle will still believe in him. So don't try and get a hard working, talented young manager sacked - let him bask in the glory.

But I'm absolutely obsessed with the restaurant. I will find any excuse to get there. The only thing stopping me is money. It's absolutely brilliant, and I larve it. And if you're a Pizza Express virgin, please go. For me?

And I'm a convert. We've read the biased views of the Daily Mail for as long as I can remember, so to have something that's visual, brief, tells everything exactly how it is, and is in fact, neutral, it's great! I had planned on doing work today. I didn't plan on making cinnamon rolls that took a day and a half mind you. They're alright, but for the time and effort put into them, you could all have one for a doorstop.

So instead of doing said-work, I watched a bit of telly, and tidied my room. Now the telly I watched was an interview with Cheryl Cole from Saturday night, I believe. Was a great bit of TV, and who interviewed her? None other than my big, big idol, PIERS MORGAN.

I own all his books, and have read them constantly. I watch all his programmes on ITV. Well, bar all the numerous stages of Britain's Got Talent. I don't wish to see a dog jump through a hoop, thanks.

But I am unbelievably excited for him to take over Larry King Live on CNN in the States. I've even made sure that with the package we get through Virgin, we can pick up the programme. He's a good listener - has the balance of serious and humorous bang on, and also can get away with asking anything. So is very much like Larry anyway.

His reputation is growing and growing - despite getting the sack from papers over here in the UK, he won Celebrity Apprentice, appears on both Britain and America's Got Talent, and now is about to earn millions of dollars a year through his CNN deal. Not bad for an Arsenal fan...

Like normal, I scan through it for the names of people, and see if there's anyone good. And to be honest, I was very, very shocked to see that, on Monday, a small 4-piece from London will be performing. They are called ONE ESKIMO.

Now I first heard of the band just over a year ago, when we went to see Paolo Nutini at the Hammersmith Apollo. Was a brilliant gig, and that's when we heard of One EskimO. As you do, you think that the bands who are supporting the main act will be shite, but I can safely say, this lot were as good as Paolo, and they were stunning live. It was goosebump stuff stood watching everyone suddenly take note of this chilled back, relaxed feel to everything. I remember thinking that it was like the music was washing over everyone, and making them feel calm, and in their own little world. It was remarkable.

And since then, I've followed the band online and waited for albums, EPs and singles, because they are brilliant. And now they've launched in America, it's safe to say they're about to become the next big indie band.

He is someone who many wish dead, and many people wish had never even thought about sport. But alas, we're lumbered with him and his family now. Today is Dedicated to MALCOLM GLAZER.

Now I don't like Malcolm Glazer. There's aren't many people I actually hate in this world, but here is one. He comes in, spends £800m of someone else's money on MY football club, puts all that debt against the club, screws us over big time, turns us from most profitable club in world to the one in the most debt, and then is happy to let that stumble on, as he is debtless.

When football is something drilled into you from birth, and you are taught one way - the United way - then you'll understand why everyone is extremely pissed off with him. He has done nothing good for our club, only bad.

But with the whole Rooney debacle finally coming to a close this afternoon, with him signing a new deal, he effectively stuck two fingers up at Malcolm. With Fergie blaming Rooney in his press conference on Tuesday, and Wayne blaming the Glazers and their 'lack of ambition' within the club on Wednesday, the fans now have no-one to blame for all these issues but the small ginger pricks. Don't get me wrong, the Glazers aren't people who are intentionally trying to kill off the club, but they're doing it sub-consciously.

So, the campaign begin s again, with Wayne AND David Beckham on side. The Green and Gold campaign was effective last season, but it needs to be even more so today, and from now on, to force them to sell. The Red Knights are the best thing that could possibly happen to our club right now, so we need to back them, and show Malcolm and his offspring that they are not welcome in Manchester. Ever again.

Today, the dreaded press conference finally arrived, and Fergie admitted that Wayne Rooney wishes to leave the club. Now, apparently old Gilly has been trying to entice Wayne to sign a new deal since 14th August, and that's why a) Rooney is in the worst form of his life, and b) the club haven't announced anything earlier.

Now wherever Wayne wishes to go will be a step down from United - that's a fact. He plays for the best team in the best league in the world. But where does he go? Madrid? Barca? Even Man Shitty?

It's so difficult - how can we sell our star player two years on the bounce... But then again, if he doesn't want to be here, then get rid. He is, apparently, holding out for more money. Fergie had a row with him, and now he wants to go. So get rid. Shove him in reserves, don't let him play. He loses fitness, he becomes a worse player, and the team learn to play without him.

David will keep chipping away, and hopefully a deal can be struck, but the damage Wayne has already caused to the fans is irreversible. His loss.

But today's guests were Tulisa from N-Dubz, who I genuinely fell asleep during, and EAMONN HOLMES and his lovely wife, Ruth Langsford. Now Tim, co-host of the show, for those of you who don't know, asked for emails for the two of them. Now was my opportunity to finally get some advice off another one of my idols.

So I sent in my email asking about work experience, and that was read out. And then Eamonn Tweeted me, telling me to get in touch so we could chat more about it. And that actually made my day - getting some recognition, and maybe an opportunity to meet someone whose been there, done it all, and is known in every house across the country.

I apologise in advance, because I'm about to go on a bit of a football rant.

Now today, Man United drew 2-2 with West Brom, having been 2-0 up. So why, SIR ALEX FERGUSON, did this happen?

Fergie's been the boss since 1986, so knows what he's doing. He's the most successful manager in British history. So sacking him is out the question. But, by Man United standards, we've had a very poor start to the season. Even if we are 3rd in the table.

But it doesn't stop us playing some of the worst football I've ever seen United play - we're all over the place. Today's flapping around shows Edwin van der Sar needs replacing sooner rather than later. The central defence pairing keeps getting split up, which doesn't help. Paddy Evra has obviously been told to defend more, which means less overlapping. We have no decent right back, and don't get me started on Michael Carrick. Just sell him - we'll even pay you to take him.

But then we come to attacking. The obvious person to blame is Rooney - having allegedly played away from home in the summer, and come home to have a big argument with Fergie, and now it looks like we might sell him in January. It would prove why he has played so badly the last few months. Berbatov has been the best player of the season. Nani remains very selfish, but has bulked up, which helps. losing Valencia was a big loss, but we've got no replacement for him, so we've got to keep swapping the front line.

The key to our success in previous seasons has been consistency - very few long term injuries, and keeping the same starting XI week in, week out. But we can't do that if everyone is playing badly.

I still stand by my decision - Fergie should have retired at the end of last season, and we should have got Mourinho in. Now we're going to go home trophyless again this season.

Someone needs to shove a rocket up every player's arse, and get them playing for the shirt, not just the pay packet at the end of the week.

SIR ALEX FERGUSON, you are the Day Dedicatee for Saturday 16th October 2010.

So, I had a Google on Howard. I knew he was CEO, but I didn't know he bought the Starbucks chain for $3.8m in 1987. And the rest is history really. He left his job, he earns $10,000 a year through his salary, but still manages to be worth $1.1billion. Not bad for a bloke you used to work for a printing company.

He's changed Starbucks for the better - introducing new products, Starbucks VIA, coffee theaters, has transformed some stores into local coffee houses, and is in the process of making the stores even better than they currently are.

Just cut some prices here in the Uk, Howard? It doesn't cost you that much to make what you do - all I'm asking is for a couple of quid cups of coffee!

Now, as you are now all aware, I'm a big advocate of gay rights. As someone who knows several members of the gay community, I believe that everyone should be accepted in society for who they are, not what they are. And President Obama obviously agrees with me - he's voting to get Don't Ask, Don't Tell scrapped from the US Armed Forces.

The DADT policy states that if you are gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, and are currently serving within the US Armed Forces, you do not tell anyone. That's like saying 'If you're hungry, your loss - you're not allowed to tell anyone'. It's so everyone is equal apparently - so being gay makes you a lesser person than someone who is straight?

Obama believes in equality - the first black President, the first with Muslim blood, the first who is actually going to force through his own legislation to make life equal for everyone in his nation.

Now I think the idea of the film is great - takes a little while to get in to, but once you're there, it becomes an eclectic mix of one-liners and humour that just keeps making you laugh. And who has the best lines? Brick Tamland, played by STEVE CARELL.

I love Steve, he is one of the funniest men on the planet. But this was by a mile his best performance. Funny, witty, and a performance only he could get away with. The pants party had me going for so long I had to pause the film.

Now this morning, the race started at 7, but I needed my sleep, so I recorded it and watched it back a little later. And to lose 6 cars within 2 corners of the first lap, and to only have 16 finish was big. I thought it was a great race, others disagree, and are calling it boring, but I guess it's all based on personal preferences.

Now Sebastian Vettel won the race, and he led for the majority of it too. He's a class driver, who will indeed become a legend within the sport over the next few years. But there's been big talk this season of him becoming too big for his boots, and ensuring he himself is the number one driver at Red Bull. But that freezes out today's Day Dedicatee - MARK WEBBER.

Now Mark is 34, and this is probably one of the last, if not the last time he will ever compete for the World Championship as a major contender. Everything has gone right for him this season - the car is one of the best ever, his driving and ruthlessness have helped gain every point he can, and the team have all been behind him. Bar one. Now Sebastian won't admit it, but there's certainly some unfriendly goings on at Red Bull.

I watched the BBC coverage today of the race - Lee McKenzie did a fabulous job of filling in for Jake Humphrey. Jake is one of the best broadcasters in the business - I called him my 'hero' yesterday at my uni open day.

Anyway, back to the story, the BBC team portrayed Mark in a very good light today, despite coming second. But he's now 14 points clear at the top of the championship, with three races to go. It's his trophy to lose, and I can tell you now, it will take something catastrophic for him to lose sight of what he's aiming for. The bloke is one of the most focused drivers on the grid, and he's certainly going to go down as a true great of the sport.

Now, people say The X Factor is always taken a little too seriously. We've had, so far this season, Gamu and the deportation row, Cheryl's malaria, Dannii's baby, Shirlena's mad dancing and then being kicked off, Cher going through despite breaking down, and Katie forgetting the words - twice. And we've only just begun....

So what we needed was a good dose of fun. With nearly 15m people watching the show every week, someone needed to come in, and just make everyone laugh and enjoy themselves. With the original 12 finalists, there wasn't anyone like that, but with the 4 wildcards, WAGNER returned, and normality was restored.....

Supposedly.

Now Wagner, or Male Shakira as he is known on my Twitter feed, is a retired PE teacher, who originates from Brazil. He isn't the greatest of singers, but he's certainly game for a laugh. Tonight, he performed a mash-up of 'She Bangs', by Ricky Martin, and 'Love Shack', by the B52's. Complete with 4 females fondling themselves, bongos, staging that was bright orange, and a maroon velvet jacket. I mean, come on!

I love Wagner - I think he's brilliant. He doesn't know any of the songs Louis has picked for him so far, but has given them his best shot, and you can tell he is having fun. I really hope the British public keep him in for a while just so he can keep this buzz round the show alive, before we get all serious again.

Then you factor in the human effort to drill these holes to get them out, without getting the whole thing to collapse in on itself, and you drill two of them - one within the space of a few days. It's mental.

And the final point - Camp Hope. The families of the miners have stayed in what is now like a mini-town, and they called it Camp Hope - because they knew their loved ones would be out at some point. It's just a beautiful story.

I'm unbelievably excited about going back. Best country in the world by a living mile. But it wouldn't really be the way it is if CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS hadn't found it.

Told you it was a poor one.

What an ugly bloke as well. Like, really, that hat does nothing for him.

CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS, you are the Day Dedicatee for Thursday 7th October 2010.

Wednesday 6th October 2010 - The Trevor Project

I don't particularly want to go on a bit of a laugh tonight. I want to say my piece, let you all sleep on it and get your general response tomorrow.

Today goes to THE TREVOR PROJECT.

Now The Trevor Project was set up in 1994, but set up their main charity in 1998. The Trevor Project is all about stop young people committing suicide due to bullying or other worrying circumstances. But it's not for everyone - it is specifically for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or questioning teenagers.

Now The Trevor Project is a place for advice, and for help, but is currently only available in the US and Canada, and not over here in the UK.

As a heterosexual male, this really shouldn't bother me. But I feel very strongly for LGBT rights, and I believe that everyone is equal, no matter what they are. Black or white, fat or thin, rich or poor, male or female, gay or straight. Everyone is unique, and has their own place in society - and we should learn to accept that.

In the 1920's, women finally gained the vote, thus gaining women's rights. In the 1960's, and then again in the early 1990's, apartheid was abolished across the globe, and black people, and those of ethnic origin gained rights. Now it's our turn to make a difference, and in the 2010's, we're gonna get gay people the rights they deserve, and make everyone equal in our world.

Suicide is four times more likely in a homosexual person than a heterosexual person. That's a horrific figure that needs to stop. The word 'gay' is now synonymous with this current generation, but that's not a good thing. 'Gay this', 'gay that'. So what? Why is being gay such an issue? Why can't people just accept others for who they are, and not constantly bombard them with abuse? So much so, that some are driven to find that the only way they see this all finishing is just that - to finish it, and take their own life.

It's soul destroying knowing that the young people of the world today aren't receptive to the fact that the smallest comments you make can be the most hurtful. The Trevor Project have the same beliefs I do, and hopefully, they can support over here in the UK too in the near future.

The charity has become public knowledge over the last few weeks due to the tragic death of a young man from America called Tyler Clementi. Tyler was at Rutgers University, in New Jersey, and his roommates streamed footage of him and another male in his bedroom, live, across the internet. One roommate even goaded his Twitter followers into watching the video, and this just adds insult to injury. Tyler, who was just 18, then threw himself off the George Washington Bridge, and his body was found a week later. All because he was gay.

And it isn't just Tyler who found it unbearable. 4 suicides have been publicised across US media outlets over previous weeks, but that's just 4 high-profile. What about the ones who weren't shown on TV, or the one's who just slipped away from it all? Millions upon millions of people on this planet are gay - why does it have to be such a big issue?

People like Ellen DeGeneres make others take notice. Ellen featured The Trevor Project on her show this week, and has already raised $50,000 for the charity. It's an outstanding effort, and she's an outstanding human being - always wanting what's best for humanity. But why aren't we all like her?

Yes, I haven't been perfect - I've used the word 'gay' as a derogatory term many a time. But since my best friend told me he was gay? Not once. It puts things into perspective when things like that happen - you notice a lot more, and it makes me sick to the core that we don't just accept it and create LGBT rights across the world.

We need to allow same-sex marriages, and not scowl at every all-male or all-female couple walking down the road. If two people are in love, so what?! So what that they are slightly different to everyone else, they are still human. And that should be all that matters. They are human beings.

So, no matter what you are, or who you are, please just give some money to The Trevor Project via this link. It's that simple. The more people donating to help those in need, the more those behind the charity will realise that this is a global effort, and not just one within the US.

Thankyou. From the bottom of my heart, thankyou. We can help turn this into a beautiful thing, where everyone is loved on this planet.

THE TREVOR PROJECT, you are the Day Dedicatees for Wednesday 6th October 2010.

Before we even start, I have to say a massive, massive thankyou to everyone involved within Day Dedication. Last night we hit 2,000 page views since May, which is a big milestone for us. Having started in September 2009, and having restarted in July, the fact we've managed to clamber to 2,000 views in a matter of a few months is a big deal for a very small blog like ourselves.

I refer to 'us', as it is. Yes, every night it is just little me putting my opinions onto the big wide world web, but it is a group of us. Every single one of you is involved in this thing - no matter how many times you've looked. Having the stats like I do makes everything worthwhile, and makes me want to do this.

So, thankyou to every single one of you. You're all brilliant.

But anyway, today's Dedicatee is JESSICA ENNIS. A very random one, but it will become apparent.

As you will all know, I'm running the Bupa 10k next May, in London. Now I've downloaded a bit of software called Adidas miCoach, and it's brilliant. It helps me track everything I need to know. And it gave me an option with whom to have talk to me. The tones of Andy Murray? No ta. Give me the lovely northern voice of Jessica any day.

So she will, hopefully, inspire me 3 times a week, for 36 workout, over the next 13 weeks. Hopefully.

So, JESSICA ENNIS, you are the Day Dedicatee for Tuesday 5th October 2010.

17th hole. 13.5 for Europe, 13.5 to USA. 2 up in the final match of the whole tournament, and a putt to keep the US in the competition. It misses, match conceded, and Graeme McDowell has won the Ryder Cup for Europe.

But who is all that down to?!

COLIN MONTGOMERIE, that's who.

There's Monty, with the golden trophy. He was the Captain of Team Europe for 2010, and it was brilliant to watch the bloke win his first major trophy. And the respect he had from every player, every caddy, every single wife, girlfriend, steward, greenkeeper. Everyone. Was just mind blowing just how good he's been this week.

As a golf fan, and someone who enjoys watching, and driving the buggies, seeing as if I go near a club, it does a runner, it was magical to watch how it all unfolded. And triumphantly, Europe came out on top. Amazing.

Best Ryder Cup ever.

COLIN MONTGOMERIE, you are the Day Dedicatee for Monday 4th October 2010.

Now, as hopefully you'll all know by now, we're currently in the midst of the Ryder Cup. And as of this evening, Europe are 9.5 up, compared to the USA's paltry 6.5. Sorry, I had to get my dig in.

Now G.Mac partnered Rory McIlroy in both the Foursomes and the Fourballs this weekend. And won. He played some beautiful shots and some beautiful golf with R.Mac. They've both been a different class. And I think that's part of the reason Europe are now just 5 points away from regaining the trophy.

It should have all finished this evening, but because of the rain, we'll have all 12 singles matches tomorrow. And Graeme has to go out and play Hunter Mahan as the last game, so by the end, but let's hope not, he may have the pressure of a continent on his shoulders. And it'll work for him.

So, I have every faith in you G.Mac, if you ever find this, as I do in the whole of Team Europe. Go out tomorrow and make us proud.

GRAEME MCDOWELL, you are the Day Dedicatee for Sunday 3rd October 2010.

Now Cheryl has it difficult, because she was there for part of the auditions, but not all of them, because of the malaria. Which means she knows some of her group, but not all. Now she's got the girls, and has to pick 3 from her 8.

But why bother?! Just keep all 8, and let Cheryl have as much camera time as possible. She is just beautiful. She makes the programme worth watching week in, week out. Well, Simon does too. And I probably would anyway, but that's not the point.

So, ladies and gentlemen, Cheryl Cole, the nation's new darling, takes today.

CHERYL COLE, you are the Day Dedicatee for Saturday 2nd October 2010.

Today goes to IAN POULTER. He's local - from just down the road in Stevenage. He's on the right in that photo. He's a golfer, for those of you who don't know, and he's currently playing in the Ryder Cup.

And today, he was the most stylish man on the golf course, and by far the best. He's the fan's favourite this year, and he's very, very cool. I like Poults a lot, and not only is he a world-class golfer, he's a top-class bloke too.

And he's on Twitter - which makes it even better.

He's one of those people who are very inspirational for a lot of people who don't know who he is until they read about him - so read and enjoy.

IAN POULTER, you are the Day Dedicatee for Friday 1st October 2010.

And no, it's not just because I share a birthday with her. But she's the first person I wish a Happy Birthday on the 24th of April. Even before my sister.

She's just cool. But today isn't because she's a top actress. And was absolutely stunning in her heyday. Oh no, today is because of a certain song named after her.

There's a dance duo called Duck Sauce, and their new song is, funnily enough, called Barbra Streisand. It is a massive, massive hit, and is gonna be Number 1 when its released. Good, I say.

But it's been in my head all day. All week. And it doesn't seem to get old, or want to go away. Amazing stuff.

And here it is for you to love.

So, BARBRA STREISAND, thank you for giving permission for the song, and making dance floors much more fun. You are the Day Dedicatee for Thursday 30th September 2010.

Instead, what does make me feel brilliant today is HURTS. Now do you see what I did there?!

Now I love the album anyway - it's one of my records of the year. So clever, so different, so fresh compared to what else has come out this year.

But I heard the Kylie cover of 'Wonderful Life' today for the first time, and it's just beautiful. Honestly, if there was a word that meant more than that, I'd use it. It's just stunning. And it is so different to the original, that it makes you feel in love with the Hurts version even more!

HURTS, you are the Day Dedicatee for Wednesday 29th September 2010.
