January was meant to kickstart a brilliant year, but really didn't. I had no-one to spend it with, and it really was a piss poor month.

February was Charlie. Yes, I was 'in love' as I have told you all before. Valentines Day was spent alone again - like the last 6 years. And I was really down.

March was another January - depressed and down. Not great, but I had moved to Lizzy, and everything seemed okay when I spoke to her

April brought my 16th birthday! I was now legal to smoke, and do..... other things. Lovely! And exam leave was imminent - so revision began...

May was only really half a month - because the first half was all Lizzy and revision. Lizzy probably did do the right thing - not that I realised at the time.

June brought a little package of love for me. Isobel wandered on into my life, and everything became all smiles! Exams took over the next month, and then our 10-week summer started!

July brought 25 days with Isobel. 25 whole days. Yes, I did count. There are small green dots everywhere on the days I see her!

August brought one of the best summer holidays I've ever been on. Constant Twittering with Isobel while sitting on a beach in San Diego - lovely. A brilliant holiday really!

September brought a new chapter to my life - sixth form. Suits, lessons that I want to do, free periods. Now that was a good month!

October - everything went down the pan. Yes, the stress got to me, and everything was horrible. Arguments everywhere, and it wasn't a good month. I didn't need to go to Formby, but had to. Wasn't good. Worst month of the year.

November made everything alright. School was good again, I hit my 3,000th Tweet, and everything with Isobel seemed good! The month was good, and 2009 began to draw to a close.

December was by a living mile, the best month, never mind of the year - of the decade. Snow for 2 weeks, loads of time with Isobel, a job with an income, a brilliant Christmas and a great New Year. Presents were perfect, and just what I wanted.

What a year!

Best. Year. Ever.

Bring on 2010! Happy New Year everyone!

Well, tomorrow, this decade comes to a close. The first decade closure I've lived through - last time it was all about the millenium!

So, today is the first of two review blogs - today is all about this decade. And don't worry, it won't be particularly long! Just enough to cover each year within the last 10.

So then, here goes nothing!

2000 was a big year politically. George Bush came to power (and lost the country in a few days...) and Vladimir Putin arrived as President of Russia. It was also the year of the Sydney Olympics, the biggest Olympiad so far in the history of time.

Big Brother started on British TV, starting a mass cult following.

2001 was the year of terrorism. It all kicked off this year - starting in China, the big one happening in America, and then finally on a plane going to the Carribbean in November. 9/11 led to the war in Afghanistan, and ultimately led to George Bush being hated.

Pop Idol starts the reality music revolution in the UK, with 24 premiering in the US.

2002 began with the Euro becoming the standard monetary currency in 15 of Europe's countries. Since then, it has risen to 16, with more countries widely expected to join as they enter the EU. The Bali bombings also happened - seeing a theme happening here...?

American Idol becomes one of the biggest shows in the US, and The X-Files (finally, in my opinion) finishes.

2003 was a year of optimism, being crushed by a lot of cynicism. Starting with the tragedy of the Columbia shuttle disaster, the Iraq war also kicked off - making Bush the most hated man on Earth, very quickly followed by Blair. Hu Jintao arrived in China as President, and the iPod well and truly took hold of the world.

The last This Is Your Life is on in Britain! I remember it too! The final installment of the Lord of the Rings trilogy became the highest grossing film of the decade, claiming over $1.1b in revenue.

2004 was a year of hope. Staring with the Madrid bombings, things got a lot better, with Putin getting another term, the Athens Olympics, and the largest expansion of the EU - with 10 new members. But Boxing Day was the biggest catastrophe of modern times, with the Asian Tsunami.

Lost and Desperate Housewives start, and Friends finishes with an audience of over 50 million.

2005 was the year the Pope died. It was quickly followed by the 7/7 bombings in London - which massively affected me. Hurricane Katrina killed thousands in Louisiana, and was another massive Bush boo-boo.

Doctor Who is relaunched in the UK, and Prison Break is launched in the US. The 50th Eurovision Song Contest takes place as well! God I love Eurovision.

2006 was a relatively quiet year, with the only big worldwide event being the North Korea missile test.

HDTV becomes a regular in British households, and Top of the Pops leaves British airwaves for the last time.

2007 also was a very quiet year, but at the very end, Benazir Bhutto was assassinated before being elected President of Pakistan.

The Celebrity Big Brother series suffers a massive racism backlash, and the writers strike hits major US TV networks.

2008 made up for the last 2 years. Myanmar suffered masses of landslides, killed over 140,000 people. Dmitry Medvedev replaced Putin as President of Russia, while Putin became PM. A big earthquake happened in China, killing nearly 70,000, and the South Ossetia war took place in August. The biggest, and best Olympics took place in Beijing, and then, it started. The credit crunch kicks off with the collapse of Lehman Brothers and Northern Rock. Then, just as we get to the end of a very busy year, Obama wins the US Election, finally defeating Bush and sending him to retirement.

2009 began with Obama's inauguration, followed by some disasters - the Italian earthquake, and the Australian bushfires. The swine flu pandemic never turned into a pandemic, and Michael Jackson died in June, leading to worldwide outpour. I'll go through my year tomorrow!

So, THE NOUGHTIES, Wednesday 30th December 2009, and teh last 10 years, are yours!

I loved Leona's first album, and was really excited for this one. But then I heard the previews, and it was crossed off my Christmas list. Opened my stocking Christmas Day, and I had it there. My heart sank - no SuBo, but bloody Leona.

I listened to it and realised what a massive mistake I'd made.

The album has a few crap ones, yes. But songs like 'Happy', 'Brave', and 'My Hands' make up for every second. Just a brilliant follow up.

But hey, we live! Y2K reminds me on the Mayan 2012 prophecy - lots of people believe it (me included) but it might not happen. All very scary!

Tonight we spent some time at a friend's birthday party, and once everyone came back from the pub, they compared PANDORA bracelets. Now I think they actually look quite nice, but only once you've got a fair bit on them. So I had a look in to them - its £55 for a standard silver bracelet, or $50, depending where you get it! Then its £20/$20 for each charm, so you could easily rack up a massive bill. And thats only the silver one, never mind the gold.

So I've started to plan for Bubble's birthday. She knows, so this won't be a surprise for her! I'm very tempted, so I'm gonna do some hunting!

Today was my last day at work - so now now income coming in. So will have to start off with the CV hunt all over again - my least favourite job ever. How ironic - job.

But hopefully, now I've found things I want, I can decide that that is the ultimate goal. To have enough money to buy nice clothes. We scrape by as a family, whereas a lot of people I know flaunt what they have. I hate it, because I know that yes, we can have treats every now and then, but we can't have them every day of the year.

Friday 25th December 2009 - Isobel Murray

Before I start, I must wish every single one of you a very Merry Christmas!

Today is the end of a lot of things – the run-up to Christmas, my Top 50 list, but also the wait for a blog for a very special person. Someone who should have the year dedicated to them, not just today. Today is the 25th December, and today, our Day Dedicatee is ISOBEL MURRAY.

Now Isobel, as many of you will know, is my girlfriend. She’s made me a very happy man over the last 6 months. And I can sense that this blog is going to be very like the one for Nana – very listy. So I do apologise.

I got very depressed for about 6 months between last Christmas and the beginning of June – I did contemplate suicide at one point. (Needless to say, I didn’t go ahead. Duh.) But one day that sticks in my mind is the 16th May – the day of the Eurovision Song Contest, and the day I met Isobel Claire Murray. This day would change my life.

I didn’t know it at this point, but a week or so later, I would find myself ‘in love’ with her best friend, Lizzy. I was down and out, and the only thing that made my day a little bit brighter was Lizzy. But over the next few days, I found myself drawn towards Isobel. As a friend, but I was strangely enticed. We agreed to meet up on 8th June, two days after the suicide fiasco.

We chatted at length – we both decided to give up on love with our respected lovers – me with Lizzy, her with Billy. It was an odd day – we sat in Starbucks for a good hour just talking about it all. The only person I’ve ever felt at ease with talking about it. And I knew then that maybe, just maybe, this was HER. I felt really dirty thinking that at the time – I hadn’t NOT fancied anyone since the Christmas before. And the fact that my head was now telling me that here was another one to add to the list didn’t help. But this was different.

I couldn’t stop thinking about her. She just popped up in every thought. And we spent the next day texting, and I finally plucked up enough courage to ask her out on the evening of 9th June. During Holby City – I remember sitting with a big smile on my face!

And over the next 6 months, we’ve gone from strength to strength, and she really is perfect. We had our perfect summer, in which Isobel was worried that the start of school would ruin what we have. She was wrong – as we had our perfect school term. We’ve had the perfect Christmas, and now we’re going to have the perfect 2010.

It sounds silly, being only 16, and having only been going out for 6 months, but I love her. The definition for love is ‘a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person’, and this is very true. I now can’t see myself without Isobel – everything revolves around her. And thats the way it will stay, because it ain’t broke, so why fix it?! I’ve loved every second of being with her, and will love every future second.

So, ISOBEL MURRAY, here is your surprise Christmas present. You’re having one of the most important days of the year dedicated to you. Oh, and just for the record, I’ve just told over half the world that I love you. And nothing’s going to change that!

ISOBEL MURRAY, you are the Day Dedicatee for Friday 25th December 2009.

ADAM’S TOP 50 SONGS
So, this is it. We’ve gone through my Top 48, and now we’re down to the final 2 (I’m doing a Dermot on X Factor – I’m gonna milk it for all its worth...)

Millions of songs to choose from, 24 days, 2 months planning. 48 songs have gone before you, and this is it. Who will come second, and who will win the coveted first? Ladies and gentlemen, here are the results.

#2 – JOHN LEGEND – SHOW ME
Just missing out, but an absolutely incredible song. John Legend never really became particularly mainstream, but if you’ve heard his voice you will want more and more. The first album was good, the third album was alright but the second album is possibly the best album of the decade. I love this song, it just sums him up for me. A beautiful arrangement, with his silky smooth vocals over the top. Just a stunning, stunning track.

So, the winner is this...

#1 – THE BEATLES – LET IT BE
It was a tossup between this and ‘Hey Jude’, but with my one song per artist rule, it has to be this one. If you read the lyrics, without any music, it still is just as astonishing. How a band, known for their upbeat harmonies, can create such a majestic piece of music. The song is just mind-bending – probably one of the most famous in the world. To be honest, if you’ve never heard it, you’ve never lived. This is the best song ever written, ever composed, and ever sung. And they are the reasons this is my favourite song of all time.

A book written from the perspective of death - looks amazing. Lots of people asking about it today, so I assume its becoming a film. But looks really good!

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#4 - MELODY GARDOT - BABY I'M A FOOL
Discovered her this time last year, literally. Her voice just warms me up, this album is one of my favourites of all time. So glad to find her a few months before she got commercial, because I got a few months just to listen to her without hearing her everywhere. This song is so so true, and I love this to absolute pieces.

#3 - CARL ORFF - O FORTUNA
Just missed out on the top 2! My favourite piece of classical music, this has the typical build up to just a sublime, scary, inspiring end. One of the most famous pieces of music of all time, this still gives me goosebumps. Just a quick note - never use it as an alarm. It's like the Grim Reaper coming to wake you up.

Sorry, that really is short! PRESENT EXCHANGE, Wednesday 23rd December 2009 is yours.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#6 - BEYONCE - AT LAST
This version is just incredible. Didn't expect to fall in love with it as much as I did, but the simplicity of the lyrics just makes this song an amazing listen. The version by Mrs Jay-Z was used at Obama's inauguration, and I watched it over and over again on YouTube. Brilliant.

#5 - U2 - BEAUTIFUL DAY
Now this is another one I love. A very simple message, portrayed in typical U2 form. Heavy guitar playing, heavy drums, heavy Irish vocals. Nope, none are in here. But this song is just part of their incredible comeback. Love this record, and the lyrics are just like a book. Incredible.

Well, another bloody late blog! Sorry!

CHRISTMAS PRESENTS between me and Isobelw were exchanged today - and they were brilliant. We had such a good day because of them.

I won't tell you what was bought, because they were all very eprsonal and wouldn't make sense if put on here! But they were brilliant - all the presents had a different meaning and it was really nice!

Plus we had about 4 miles of wrapping paper strewn through my room - now that looked awful.

CHRISTMAS PRESENTS, Tuesday 22nd December 2009 is yours.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#8 - YANN TIERSEN - COMPTINE D'UN AUTRE ETE: L'APRES-MIDI
My favourite piece of standard classical music. From one of my favourite films, 'Amelie', it fits the moment in the film it appears. It has such a simple theme, but creates some incredible sounds with the chords it makes. Just an incredible, spine-tingling piece of music.

#7 - MARIAH CAREY - CAN'T TAKE THAT AWAY
My favourite recording artist of all time, and she's only #7! This song was just something I kinda found out of the blue. I was having a bit of a shit period in life, and this song just seemed to sum up everything. A relation to the lyrics rather than the song. Still makes me feel all emotional!

Its a big week for 100's if I'm honest. The blog is 100 posts old today, and Isobel and I are 200 days old on Boxing Day. All good!

So yes, thankyou everyone. Thankyou for keeping this all going. You all talking about it and getting others to talk about the blog makes everything seem okay in the world.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#10 - AMY WINEHOUSE - BACK TO BLACK
And so the final countdown begins. This song was just a little gem on an incredible album. I love this song - the old beat, the brilliant vocals that just sound like they should all come from a '50's jazz club. Absolute class.

#9 - ELBOW - STARLINGS
Never released as a single, which was a shame. The intro goes on for about a minute and a half before the voices come in, and the constant piping of the horns and strings makes this just a happy, uplifting, brilliant album track.

RATM have a song with 'killing' in the title as Christmas number one. Just a brilliant story - and all thanks to Facebook. Just look at the power social networks have over the media these days...

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#12 - CHET BAKER - MY FUNNY VALENTINE
The most famous, and still the ebst. Chet Baker has such a smooth voice that it all just clicks. Beautiful lyrics, a voice like Baileys, and some beautiful piano work makes this song a brilliant record.

#11 - MICHAEL JACKSON - EARTH SONG
Just missed out on the Top 10. A brilliant message portrayed by the King of Pop. No-one will ever better him. This song just captures what Jacko was all about. Magic.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#14 - THE SHANGAI RESTORATION PROJECT - THE BUND
Now this always reminds me of summer last year. That intro is just incredible - used in the Olympic coverage. I love this record, and the vocals are just amazing on it too.

#13 - ELLA FITZGERALD - SUMMERTIME
The way the song is purred gets me. How can a woman with such a beautiful voice create a whole new world in a song? Its just a spine-tingling version.

#15 - KEANE - THE IRON SEA

#17 - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN - JOHN HENRY
Now this is a cover and a half. Pete Seeger never did this song as much justice as the Boss did. A happy, cheery song thats filled with smiles! Nothing like a bit of folk!

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#22 - RAY LAMONTAGNE - BE HERE NOW
A 6-minute epic that opens his second album. Beautiful guitar playing matches his rusty voice, and it goes on and on like a dream. A beautiful record.

#21 - SEAL - KISS FROM A ROSE
Not so much the song, but the lyrics. They're incredible - like a short love story. Really like this one, but I wish it hadn't been ruined by so many cover versions!

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#24 - TAKE THAT & LULU - RELIGHT MY FIRE
It has to be the LuLu version though. That slow intro build up into the massive powerhouse and 1990's dungaree throwing, with that mad little woman jumping in too! Brilliant!

#23 - JOHNNY CASH - DESPERADO
A cover version! I love this, and how he's stripped it right down to form near enough a brand new song. Beautifully written and arranged, it always brings a smile to my face.

She collapsed, and went to rehab. No-one heard from her again for a few months, until October, when this new woman stepped out.

I'm sorry, but for a 47-year-old woman, the woman to the right is stunning. Especially when you compare it to the bushy-haired, big-eyebrowed woman in a floral dress at the audition. Her image has changed, and so has her head, and she's changed so many people's minds. We were far too judgemental when she walked onto the stage, and now look at her! Top of the charts and still riding high.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#26 - CARRIE UNDERWOOD - BEFORE HE CHEATS
A bit o' country I think! I love Carrie Underwood - she just has a voice that fits to what she does. This song was something that made people realise that she is a massive talent.

#25 - SHAKIRA FT. WYCLEF JEAN - HIPS DON'T LIE
Shakira Shakira! This song was probably the hit of the decade. A massive song that had an infectious beat. And a brilliant dance. So I think the hip action was why I like this one!

Today/Yesterday goes to SLEEPLESS NIGHTS. Its been a very very long day! Started at 8, got to work for 10, worked till 4, back to mine to pick my bits up, back to Isobel's to pick up hers, then off to church for a quick church concert and then off to Max's for the night! We're mad!

But it was totally worth it - a brilliant day. Really enjoyed it!

SLEEPLESS NIGHTS, you are the Day Dedicatee for Saturday 12th December 2009.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#28 - FRANK SINATRA - THAT'S LIFE
Not many songs are like this - I think only My Way has a similar meaning. Frank's voice just makes this song so special, and its such a good listen!

#27 - PAOLO NUTINI - NEW SHOES
A happy song! This makes me smile, because it has a great meaning for me. A great beat, some brilliant lyrics and a ray of sunshine in a song!

Just a class programme! I love it! Sorry, I just really like this one!

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#30 - CORINNE BAILEY RAE - CALL ME WHEN YOU GET THIS
Now this is a brilliant album track. I really like how this fits in to the album. The guitar, the silky singing, the big hair! All of it just makes this one a really cool, laid back song.

#29 - NORAH JONES - COME AWAY WITH ME
Just to follow on the easy listening theme tonight, this one just takes it. I love this one, its a beautifully written song, which fits Norah's voice. Love her to bits.

And this morning, we spent ages chatting! It was brilliant, just what I needed after a difficult few days. She really was a big big help today, and hopefully things will all seem better by the end of the week because of her advice.

So, Miss Eiben, thankyou for today! Thursday 10th December 2009 is yours.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#32 - AVENUE Q - EVERYONE'S A LITTLE BIT RACIST
Now thats a show tune. Nothing abnormal, but something thats just brilliant. Something that actually does make sense for once!

#31 - KYLIE MINOGUE - CAN'TG ET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD
I think possibly the best 'na na'-ing I've ever heard. And a brilliant video to go with it. Love the record!

Anyway, the show must go on! Today was a very special day for Isobel and I, as we reached 6 MONTHS! Now according to most, that means that we're in a 'serious relationship' now! Ha!

But I like serious! It worked tonight, and its gonna work for the next 6 too! Its just been a perfect day - even the chocolate heart!

So thankyou Isobel, thankyou for everything. Its been a eprfect 6 months!

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#34 - PAUL SIMON - YOU CAN CALL ME AL
An infectious song! One of those humming riffs that just goes on and on and on - all day! Brilliant record.

#33 - OASIS - SONGBIRD
Now this is an album track. Something I really didn't expect from Oasis. A gorgeous, low-level, slow, acoustic track that really does just remind me of summer.

Been off today - not felt particularly well. And then feeling like turd tonight didn't help the matter. But tomorrow, I have to be well. Its a very special day for Isobel and I - 6 whole months together. And the next 6 are going to be even better.

But then you have the questions within life, and the rest of it. Whats the point in going out with someone if you don't think you'll marry them? Thats just like standing in a battlefield waiting to be shot. But then you look at things in a different light, and try and react positively to obstacles in your way.

And thats what I think people should do. Be selfish, but not too selfish. Think about things in a different light, and from the different person's perspective. See where they are coming from.

Think about the problems you face, and overcome them with a leap. But think of the best possible way to overcome them, using the right methods and options available to you.

Now that links in to my day big time. Its bizarre, and weird, but it makes sense. To me anyway!

ANTICIPATION, you are the Day Dedicatee for Tuesday 8th December 2009.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#36 - ABBA - THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL
The menaing to the song is powerful, and actually does come from their hearts. And it was used in a decent film. And has a brilliant key change. Marvellous!

#35 - MADONNA - HUNG UP
Just a brilliant piece of 'featuring'. I don't actually think there is a better song that uses extracts from another. Just sublime - album was great too.

If you don't want people to know about your personal business, don't go shouting it in lessons. And then if you do, why don't you expect people to find out?! If I don't like you, I'm not gonna keep gossip from people who ask.

Yes, fellow people haters, shes back! And you all know who she may be, as those who have asked have been informed. And I know I did a lot of whinging myself about her today, but it was the only way to vent my anger at it all. I tell one person, and I'm castarted. She shouldn't be so miserable!

Anyway, WHINGING, Monday 7th December 2009 is yours.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#38 - THE THREE TENORS - HAPPY CHRISTMAS/WAR IS OVER
My favourite Christmas song! It shouldn't work, but it does! The bells, the strings, the three powerful voices, and the meaning of the song - all mashed up to form one complete piece of brilliant music.

#37 - DIDO - WHITE FLAG
I got into Dido big time last year - and I think this song sums her up. The deep moral from the song just makes it even more goosebumpy - if thats a word. It is now.

And its just been a brilliant weekend - certainly one of the best of the year. Have really enjoyed today - as you can see from the last few blog entries!

And while I'm writing this, 'Small Island' is on! Even better - a fabulous book!

CHRISTMAS WRAPPING, you are the Day Dedicatee for Sunday 6th December 2009.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#40 - CULTURE CLUB - KARMA CHAMELEON
Just one of the most recognisable intros of all time. And everyone knows that repetive chorus. The one that would happily travel round your head for 3 days.

#39 - MAMAS & PAPAS - CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'
One of the greatest records ever to have come from America. Just launched the incredible sound over here. And this record also reminds me of holiday!

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#42 - ROBERTA FLACK - WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME TOMORROW?
So much better than the original. The acoustic version of this is just incredible. Goosebumps when you hear it - her voice sounds like a bee against the summer wind - a perfect purr just when you want it.

#41 - MUSE - SUPERMASSIVE BLACK HOLE
A bit of a change from Roberta Flack! Now this was what got me into Muse - a brilliant base line with some very very bizarre notes vocally! But it all fits together, and works so so so well.

Dwain was in school today, and he was taking a group of PE students throught fitness regimes, and we had a full Q&A with him. Now, as a member of the school newspaper team, I got to have a personal Q&A with him, and he was such a lovely man.

He was asked plenty of questions about the drug scandal, and to give him his due, he answered every one with detail and with honesty. And he does regret it. He has lost £2m because of it - just through sponsorship.

But he is going round schools, telling the kids what not to do, and to look after yourselves and not take drugs. He has his own foundation, in which he is helping to coach young talent. He has used his big publicity to his benefit, and has done brilliant because of it.

I really admire the man - I think he has a great deal of courage to do what he has done. And I think you need to judge him once you've met him, not because of his past.

DWAIN CHAMBERS, Friday 4th December 2009 is yours.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#44 - MARVIN GAYE - WHAT'S GOING ON?
Just an incredible song. Has some of the most heart-felt lyrics I've ever heard. And probably one of the best albums ever too.

#43 - COLDPLAY - SQUARE ONE
One hell of a way to open an album with so much expectation and anticipation. Just an eery, scary, wonderful song!

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#46 - PRINCE - PURPLE RAIN
Now that is a record. Yes, its long, but that guitar solo, and Prince's voice just make the lyrics into something like a liqueur - soft and simple with a punchy background and a smooth run in.

#45 - WHITNEY HOUSTON - I HAVE NOTHING
My guilty pleasure! I love a bit of Whitney, and I think this is a great track. A simple song with a simple meaning but delivered with such an incredible range of vocals.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#48 - PETER GABRIEL - SLEDGEHAMMER
Probably the greatest few synthesised beats known to Man. Got the catchiest lines throughout it and to be honest, who'd have thought a song about a tool would be brilliant?!

#47 - FLEETWOOD MAC - ALBATROSS
One of the best laid-back tunes of all time. Listening to classic Fleetwood Mac, you don't expect this kind of thing to appear. Truly stunning.

Tuesday 1st December 2009 - World AIDS Day

011209 World AIDS Day
Originally uploaded by Adam9309
So all our Christmas fun starts today. But not until we've had a blog thats actually very important to me.

Today, WORLD AIDS DAY walks away with it. Now, I must stress, that AIDS hasn't affected my family or anyone close to me at all - not to my knowledge anyway. But I've backed World AIDS Day every year since 2004, and will continue doing so.

Not convinced you? Look at the facts.

- 33.4m people worldwide have AIDS, and over 22m of them are in Africa.
- 14.1m children have been orphaned in Africa due to AIDS.
- Over 1.7m children died from an AIDS-related illness in the last 12 months.
- Over 4,100 African people - men, women and children - die EVERY DAY due to AIDS.

And then look at the money side of things.

- In the last 8 years, medical costs have dropped from $10,000 per person to under $100.
- It costs less than 20p to provide someone with HIV the two pills to keep them alive for another day.
- Last year, the combined GDP of the UK was a staggering $2.65 TRILLION. In the US, it was $14.2 TRILLION.

The money raised through the World AIDS Day ribbons, merchandise, and through (RED), has prevented over 4,000,000 deaths in Africa alone, and countless more throughout the globe.

4 million people have been kept alive thanks to you. And those who donate.

So why have that last pint tonight, when you could give an extra 12 days of life to a mother at deaths door? Why spend that 79p on your favourite song, when you'll hear it enough on the radio - and give it to a father who is the only source of income to his family.

£5 renting a DVD? Have an early night, and give an extra day to 25 people. Why buy a £20 round of coffees at Starbucks, when you could put that on a (RED) giftcard and give it to someone for Christmas? And not only that, you'd be saving 50 children from losing a parent.

I know I sound like I'm preaching, but this means a lot to me. We don't realise how lucky we are until we look at the facts. Because of AIDS, children are growing up never meeting their mothers, and their fathers know that their child is going to die in a few months due to the disease.

AIDS costs lives. And the money you give today, tonight, and over the next 12 months, is going towards finding a cure, and helping families throughout the globe.

Its a bit of money you can take out your pocket, and know that you'll walk away with a smile on your face.

WORLD AIDS DAY, Tuesday 1st December 2009 is yours.

ADAM'S TOP 50 SONGS

#50 - FAITHLESS - INSOMNIAC
A brilliant record. No-one recognises it until you get to that unforgettable break. Then this song comes into its own.

#49 - TRAVIS - DEAR DIARY
A hidden gem if you ask me. An album track that tells a story in itself, and you can really relate to the lyrics with any event in your life.

And there is one question I get asked a lot because of my X Factor commentary on Twitter - whats your favourite song? Can you get the jist yet?!

So, 25 days till Christmas. I have made a list of my favourite songs ever. 50 of them. And ranked them. So, over the next 25 days, I shall unveil two a night, until we finally get to number one. Think of it as a very long chart countdown!

We shall start tomorrow night, and no, it won't be a Dedicatee for both each night - my rules are that you can't dedicate your day to the person in the song. Oh, and the artist can't be repeated! Was tricky, but we got there.

And the new single is by a mile one of my favourite songs at the minute. I didn't expect to give Alicia today - up until half an hour ago it was going to 'The Morning After The Night Before' - but hey ho!

So yes, I think she's an incredibly talented artist, who I would love to keep in my room, and pull out whenever I needed a song. Which I do regularly - but the albums are different to her actually ebing there!

Today, I'm talking about fixing things in life. Yes, I know, being very philisophical the last few weeks, but a lot of arguments have led to a lot of thinking, and specifically about certain things.

Today was spent at a Business Enterprise competition, and even though we lost, I took a great deal out of today. Not because we lost to some absolute arses who believe that cockiness, loud posh voices and brash presentations who believe that is enough to get themselves out in the big wide world (not that I'm bitter or anything...), but because of what happened during today when I was away.

Today, Isobel grew. And grew. And grew. And I'm so proud of her today. The big problem got 'fixed' as such, and most of it was a culmination of chats between myself, her and Max. And we've finally got somewhere today. 3 days hard work comes down to one word, which was finally uttered and everything was 'forgiven'. And the way she dealt with it all just made me smile. Calmly, cleverly and happily. Which is the first time I've seen her do that.

And she Did It (Your)Herself. DIY (sorta...). Hence the title! Oh I am clever.

I think that even though they aren't specific personal blogs at the minute, my days are seeping their way into the writing, and if they aren't aimed at specific people, they are aimed at something to do with them. If that makes any sense whatsoever.

DIY, Wednesday 25th November 2009 is yours.

(P.S. Got something very excited lined up for December - will reveal all next Monday. But its all very exciting, so keep reading!)

Tuesday 24th November 2009 - Bridge Over Troubled Water

Before I begin, I must apologise to Isobel for some things that were said yesterday. They were comments made well before I knew you, and they stopped the minute I did. Don't read into them, at all. Especially not now. I'm sorry.

And I'd also like to point you towards a blog from a few months back - Friday 18th September 2009 - Bull - and hopefully this may trigger something so as someone understand what has gone on.

Anyway, today goes to BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER. The song, not the album. Mainly because of tonight's events, and what is meant within the words. Makes sense I guess!

When you're weary
Feeling small
When tears are in your eyes
I will dry them all

I'm on your side
When times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you

I'll take your part
When darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down

Sail on Silver Girl,
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER, Tuesday 24th November 2009 is yours.

(Happy 24 weeks by the way)

On a lighter note, todays winner is WRITING. Very easy one for today. Exactly what was needed, after a difficult, and very precarious day. You all know that I like to write, and I got loads of stuff down today.

Only problem was, was that I spilt wax everywhere, so burnt my hand and couldn't write any more! Underneath my hand is all sore, but I'll live.

If only wiritng was so much easier, and people could find the messages within them. So many people miss out on what is written because they don't understand why it is there. Otehrwise, the world would be full of messages that had been found, and not the secret ones that make them all the more special.

But, thats what a good writer has, and I haven't got that! Everyone knows that! Luckily though, I have someone else to sort out my writing, and someone who will look after me as well!

If you find my message for today, or maybe even this week (hint hint) let me know. WRITING, Monday 23rd November 2009 is yours.

221109 Fate
Originally uploaded by Adam9309

I figured that after a few days of piss poor posting (sorry everyone), I should get this thing back to normal. So today, the day goes to FATE.

Now fate, to me, in inavoidable. You can't actually miss it, because there is no consequence. Everything that happens has happened for a reason. Depending on your opinion, it could be the Big Man Upstairs, or another spirit of some sort. For me, it is a cross between BMU and Nana.

Everything in my life turned around just after Nana died. After holding in all that emotion the week she died, it began to seep out very slowly over the next few weeks, making me very depressed. Nothing was going my way, everything was against me - it was a bad few months.

That went on till just after Christmas, when Girl #1 came along. She got me out the depression, and then just dropped me like a hat. No contact since, and it turns out that she is actually a lesbian. Great. Depression starts again.

Girl #2 next. She actually did seem like a realistic opportunity. Looking back, it was me just pressing our friendship. And yes, I said some things I shouldn't have done, but when you're down and depressed, you're blinkered to the rest of the world. That failed miserably, and on the 6th of June, everything came to a head, and I'm quite happy to admit it, it was the first time I had genuinally considered suicide.

It just seemed the only option - finish me off and all the problems end there. It was something I toyed with. A quick word to Nana though, and everything changed. People began to care that night, people actually showed me that they wanted me around. And three days later, the best thing so far happened.

Isobel arrived, and what do I find on the way to meet her for the first time since I asked her out? One white feather. Just one. And thats Nana's sign, Nana's way of telling us she's still around. And ever since, anything good has had some sort of link to her - in a feather, a saying, just something to let us know she's around.

So, why today? Because today is the 22nd of November. Today is an insignificant day, nothing happens today of any massive importance. Yes, Lloyd may have left the X Factor, and yes, the floods in Cumbria are getting worse, but today, nothing happens. An empty day, as such.

Today is an empty day. And what do you do when its an empty day? You think. You think about everything. And I went back into a filing cabinet (in my head) to something I didn't ever want to go abck to. Isobel said to me today - 'you're in a good mood.' The reason was that I faced my demons. The alst thing I actually needed to sort out, and finally the black cloud lifts from over my head. Its over 6 months since I met Isobel, and finally, the depression itself has disappeared. I haven't shown it, I haven't even thought about it myself! But I knew it was still there.

Not any more. My life is brilliant. I have a bloody amazing group of friends, a good laugh at school, and a wonderful girlfriend. I have a smile on my face, I have a happy disposition. And its great.

And whats it all down to? BMU and Nana. Fate.

FATE, thankyou. Sunday 22nd November 2009 is yours.

MANCHESTER UNITED take today. We won yesterday - 3-0. Good game, we were all over them second half.

Plenty of crowd trouble in the Everton end though - fighting amongst themselves! Very funny, loads of riot police!

Told ya.

CHILDREN IN NEED, for those of you who don't know, is a British charity telethon, which over the last 28 years has raised over £500m for the children who need help.

A fresh new look in 2007 refreshed the charity, but the giving keeps going. The great British public donated nearly £40m last year, in the face of the worst recession in modern times.

7 hours on the telly tonight, with the stories, support and laughs of a typical Friday night in. But this has a cause. A cause to give to, and to raise some money for those who need it more. And yes, I have donated.

CHILDREN IN NEED, the British public salute you. Friday 20th November 2009 is yours.

I can't say too much, cos I only admitted it to one person, who is also sworn to secrecy. But it was a secret kept from her, so this means a lot.

I know its a short one, but my laptop is finally back! And I have a numb hand and Children in Need kicks off tonight, and they're getting the day tomorrow I think. Not confirmed, but I think so!

JENSON BUTTON is now a Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes driver. A dream team - him and Lewis Hamilton?! You wouldn't say no. Especially if you've mastered your new car already. Could be absolutely brilliant - another Button-Barrichello situation hopefully!

Mr Button, you are the Day Dedicatee for Wednesday 18th November 2009.

Tuesday 17th November 2009 - Call Centres

As you found out the other day, I'm not best pleased with Dell. A faulty screen, permanent software issues (which they 'cannot fix') and 2 new hard drives later, and the bloody thing still isn't working. Yes, my new drive arrived today, and yes, I spent the last 3 hours upgrading, installing and downloading what I could. But what is missing?

The network drivers. Anything and everything else I wanted - but to download the network drivers I need the internet. How stupid can you get?! Without these drivers I can't GET on the internet!

So, Amjiit, Primjat and Sunita, the three 'technicians' I have spoken to in the last efw days, when you send me an email asking for a reply if it helps, don't expect a reply. Cos my laptop is broken, and that is why I contacted you in the first place. Absolute fools.

And Dell are getting a very strongly worded letter tomorrow. They are also being moaned about in every way I can, and receiving a call directly to the manager tomorrow. Screw these technicians, I'm going straight to the head honcho. And if he can't fix it, I wish to receive my £378.14 back.

Oh, and just in case you were thinking about buying a Dell, DON'T. You may hear some wonder stories about the company - God knows I did - but just Google 'Dell problems' and look how many hits you can get. My point exactly.

CALL CENTRES, and your lack of knowledge, you are the Day Dedicatees for Tuesday 17th November 2009.

Monday 16th November 2009 - Mercedes Grand Prix

A dreary Monday was topped off with the news of my new favourite sport. The F1!

Well, Brawn have been taken over by Mercedes, and been rebranded 'Mercedes GP'. And that could very well spell the end of Jenson Button at Brawn/Mercedes. But if Mercedes now own 75% of Brawn, what happens to McLaren-Mercedes Well McLaren have to buy back the remaining 40% from Mercedes before the 2011 season, costing a rumoured £500m. Phew.

But then the driver changes happen! Lewis Hamilton is staying at McLaren-Mercedes, but leaves one seat empty. With Red Bull keeping both Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, Felipe Massa staying at Ferrari and Sebasian Buemi keeping his seat with Toro Rosso, lots of seats were available!

So, I hear you say, 'Where are we now?! I'm so confused!' Fear not, I shall shed some light on the matter. 4 new teams have entered the grid for next season - Lotus F1, Manor GP, Campos Meta and US F1. Which means there are 26 seats available, and with only 5 of them filled, the teams had a lot to do!

So far, then, we have this. Giancarlo Fisichella left Force India after Race 13 in 2009, and joined Ferrari. He will become the test driver and reserve driver for 2010. Force India are yet to unveil their driving lineup for 2010, so are yet to replace him. Both Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi are still to be confirmed, but look to be out of a job.

Ferrari have filled Fisichella's seat with Fernando Alonso, who has joined from Renault. Renault are discussing whether to pull out of F1 altogether, but have already signed Robert Kubica to replace Alonso. This leaves Nelson Piquet Jr. sacked from the team, and after the crash scandal, Flavio Briatore has been banned as well.

Kubica's old team, BMW Sauber, have pulled out of F1, so Nick Heidfeld has lost his seat. He has, however, alos been linked with both Brawn/Mercedes GP and Renault, and this could complete an ex-BMW lineup at the French team.

On the other side of the grid, we have Williams. They have signed Rubens Barrichello from Brawn/Mercedes GP, and have told Nico Rosberg he is free to leave the team. Rosberg is linked with Brawn/Mercedes GP, and could compete with Heidfeld. Also joining Barrichello is Nico Hulkenberg, who won the GP2 series.

So then we have the 4 new teams. Campos Meta have signed Bruno Senna, nephew of the legendary Ayrton Senna, and have one available seat, being linked with a lot of previous GP2 drivers. Then we have Lotus, who have signed no-one, but are being linked with Jarno Trulli, who has no team after Toyota left. This has also left Timo Glock without a team, and he has been linked with Manor. They have also been linked with Nelson Piquet Jr., who could have a reprieve from his ban.

This leaves two teams - Toro Rosso and US F1. With one seat available, Toro Rosso are likely to give it to 2009 driver Jamie Algersuari, but this could change depending on the ex-Toyota driver situation. The US F1 team have decided to scout for potential F1 drivers in the USA, and will employ two American drivers for the enw season.

But where does this leave Kimi Raikonnen? He could take a seat in any of these teams! And Sebastian Bourdais could be on for a return after his sacking by Toro Rosso midway through the season. Nakajima could also get a drive with one of the new teams. Raikonnen could technically go to Brawn/Mercedes GP, which takes us back in the big loop, and starts us off again with jenson button!

It is all to be revealed. I do apologise if you have no interest in F1 whatsoever, but I needed to write down my ideas while they were fresh!

So, MERCEDES GRAND PRIX, Monday 16th November 2009 is yours!

Saturday 14th November 2009 - Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

Ah, a good one here. It may be a bit late, but it was such good fun!

Me and George spent the evening on the Xbox, slagging off some American, and striking up a friendship with a British bloke who was seduced with a French-accented version of 'Hey Jude'. Good work!

CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2. It needs one word. Wow. Every review is true, its bloody brilliant. Such a good game.

BILLY FOORD has been my best friend since we were 3. He lived down the road, then when we moved house, we stayed close and have been stuck like glue together in secondary school. He's such a good laugh, we get each others sense of humour. And we literally are the only two who have this sense of humour. Seriously.

So anything we chat about always has some very bizarre jokey link. Which is brilliant! Especially with the douche in English!
