Okay, I'll explain. It is one month today that Day Dedication shuts its doors for a bit whilst I live in hope for a bit of inspiration so I don't have to move on to the next idea!

We've had over 200 posts, and my thoughts are for a continuation after the 28th May until the 14th September. That way, at least we have a year's worth of entries and I can lay the thing to rest with a bit of dignity and a smile on my face.

Still, lots of things to take into consideration first, so all shall change inevitably!

Probably one of the most iconic music videos of all time, this just bent every single rule in the book, and produced an absolutely sublime record at the end of it too. I love this video - have done for years. It was on Glee last night, and it was brilliant. But still, where do I fit in to all this? And why is it another project?

Monday 26th April 2010 - 2010 London Marathon

So, after a very long day yesterday, I can finally sit down and write it's blog. You see, yesterday our hard drive crashed and literally burned, so now its a job of finding where everything was backed up, and replenishing it. Not fun.

But, on the contrary, the 2010 LONDON MARATHON took place Sunday, and that WAS fun. I'm entering the ballot to take part in 2011, with everything crossed it will happen. I'm very excited, and am already planning training - with or without the ultimate goal. I'd like to run it for Oxfam - its one everyone will run for, but I believe they do a lot of good in the world. Either them or (RED).

Anyway, well done to everyone who finished, in particularly Mr Wilson and Mr Rombout, who both ran it from school.

So, where do you all think of instantly when the world 'malaria' is mentioned? Africa. But no, thats not just it.... Did you know that actually, South America has the second largest amount of deaths on the planet due to malaria? Or that China actually have deaths due to the disease? Mexico, India, Indonesia, even Australia.

So, if you can, buy a malaria net. They cost about £5 - but that £5 can help save a life. A little can do a lot.

Yes, there are a few spats to sort out, and a lot of spills to wipe up, but we had a good night. As did next door by what was said over the fence!

Right, so Damian and I have been provoking Mrs Ganguly into organising a trip for us all so much, that in fact, she has organised two. One for everyone, and one thats slightly more.... ambitious shall we say.

The first is a joint trip with ICT to Disneyland Paris. Now that should be good - especially if Bradley is going as well! The second however is outside of Europe.... Its a trip to BEIJING.

Now most of you will know by now that Beijing is in fact at the top of my 'To Go' list. I cannot wait to be able to afford to take a trip to China and Japan, and tour the palce. Especially after the Olympics. Then this opportunity pops up. A week out there, for £800 - absolute bargain. So I'm trying to make Mum allow me to go - I'm so excited!

The Water Cube. Bird's Nest. Great Wall of China - it sounds so so fun. I may hate the food and everything, but you only live once. Sounds so good.

Anyway, if Mum says no, I'll be there within 5 years myself!

Now I have some exciting things planned for the next month and 10 days, the first of which is announced today. I have noticed that over the last 200 days or so, I haven't actually shown a lot of APPRECIATION to you all. So today I guess is over to you!

My first 'gift' to you all is the comment box below this post. Now it will look very similar to all those familiar to Day Dedication, but there is a difference behind the scenes. Beforehand, you could only comment on a blog if you were a 'member' of Blogger, or had something known as an OpenID. Your guess is as good as mine.

Anyway, now I've found a way of changing all that. You can now comment with or without membership. So, please please please help me.

I'm trying my best to see what kind of people read my blog. So can you comment with how old you are, and whereabouts in the world you are? That would let me appreciate all of you and show you why I love doing this!

Saturday 17th April 2010 - Announcements

170410 Announcements
Originally uploaded by Adam9309
So, ladies and gentlemen, today has arrived. Its been a day I've been dreading for a while - for two reasons.

Today, Isobel and I decided (well, mainly Isobel. One of those things she 'had to do'...) that we would have no contact for 24 hours. Its actually been very difficult, but we're very close to doing it. Bet she's asleep by midnight too. Ah well, as long as she's alright.

The second one was something I decided at the beginning of the week. We have 'discussed' this before actually, but it's quite a sad day really. Today goes to ANNOUNCEMENTS, for one main reason.

Today, I am sad to announce that Day Dedication will be on an indefinite hiatus as of Friday 28th May 2010. There are a couple of things behind this decision.

One is ideas. Sitting down, every night for over 200 nights can lead to a lack of ideas and thoughts by the end of it! I've thought this since Christmas, and you can see that the lack of personal blogs proves this.

Two is exams. Having a 'deadline' as such will mean I get a couple of weeks off to have 100% time for revision.

And three, finally, is the biggie. Many of you will know that I am a massive, MASSIVE Man United fan, and I've had an idea in the pipeline that I've really wanted to do for a little while now. So, today, as my second announcement, I can tell you about Book VIII.

You will all know that I write 'Books' - diaries that have one sufficient aim. Book I was all about being more positive; Book II was about finding 'love; Book III was depression, Book IV was all about exams. Book V was the summer I spent with Isobel; Book VI is Day Dedication; and Book VII is my Dream Diary. So what else can there be left to cover?!

This summer brings a worldwide event, that signifies the joys of every man around the world. It will engulf England and batter you with everything you see. So, I'll jump on the bandwagon and write about my passion. Today, ladies and gentlemen, I'm unveiling WORLD CUP WONDER.

Now WCW will start on Monday 7th June, and continue right up until the 11th July. At that point, Day Dedication may return, but we'll see what I can conjure up between now and then!

World Cup Wonder will be my daily take on the World Cup. And yes, I will use football terminology. But fear not, women of the world. I'll do my best to include things about the WAGS for you, and bits like that. I'm very excited, but we still have a few months to go!

So, let's keep going, see where we end up in a month's time, and really enjoy the month long party we're about to have.

ANNOUNCEMENTS, you are the Day Dedicatee for Saturday 17th April 2010.

Plus the fact that tomorrow is the Dads vs. Lads game at the cricket club, and on Sunday is the Formula 1. So again, early starts and late nights.

Back next Tuesday - first time I'll see Is since today. And its pointless - I'll be in for 2 hours before going home! Useless school....

Today goes to the LIBERAL DEMOCRATS. Between now and the election, each party may very well get a Dedication. But after the first TV debate, we find that Nick Clegg is actually (based solely on tonight) the best candidate for the job.

He seemed to interact with the audience a lot more than Cameron and Brown, and (as some of you will remember, after the Politics conference I attended in January), the whole party are charismatic, youthful and full of ambition.

Now a lot of people are writing Clegg off as a PM candidate, but surely he's in with a good shout? This kind of thing tonight will really push the party. They can't afford the kind of advertising that the Labour or Tory parties can, but having free advertising through 3 debates could really help gain big shares of votes.

Yes, they have some weird polciies, like the mansion tax, but there are plenty of good ones too. Electoral reform is guaranteed, the House of Lords will become a completely elected body, Trident will be slashed, and education and healthcare would receive more money.

Lots of room for improvement though, from all 3 parties. It wasn't a good debate, on any count, but it shows us the cracks in the two major parties, and shows us also how good the 'written off' party COULD be. I'm not saying that they will win this year, but come 2015, if Clegg Nut is still in charge, they could really be in for a good shout.

LIBERAL DEMOCRATS, you are the Day Dedicatee for Thursday 15th April 2010.

Anyway, today goes to RELATIONSHIPS. A bit of a bizarre one, agreed. But it is a weird one.

Isobel and I have been going out 10 months Friday. And I reckon there have been nearly 30,000 texts sent between us, nearly a day spent on the phone and countless hours spent with each other. But Dad will still complain when I drop her a text to see how she is, or give her a quick ring to see whats going on. Or even last weekend, when I went and tried to introduce her to football, ahaving sat with him being moody for the first half!

But parents don't realise that relationships actually have changed. Not just in the sense that STI's are now infecting 1 in 10 teenagers (not the two of us - obviously), but in the way people keep in contact. With the new 24-hour contact available, you can talk all day without ever having to see the other person. MSN, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, texting, phone calls, video messages! Its different from when you had to dig your own coal to keep warm!

It just annoys me sometimes when they think they know better, but they don't know that actually, we're now in the 21st century!

Next, a quick update on Late Lent. It seems to be going quite well - I can avoid swearing if I really try. Its quite nice too, because mainly my swearing kicked in at school - and there is no school!

Finally, before we start, I'd like to apologise to all women, and anyone not interested in football. But read this - it will be good to see if I can keep you captivated till the end!

So, as you can guess by the title and picture, today's blog is CHANGE. Primarily, Manchester United.

As we speak, Dad and I are sitting through half time on the 1999 Champions League Final video. As we all know, United won 2-1, and catapulted themselves to one of the greatest achievements of all time - The Treble. Making it probably the best squad the club has ever seen.

Compare this to yesterday. 11 years later, and we're a year on from the last attempt at winning all three. Lost the FA Cup quarters, lost in the CL Final to Barca, but won the League and Carling Cup. We had to rebuild in the summer, but we obviously didn't do a great job. We've become a one-man team, in Wayne Rooney. Take him out of the equation, and we're a shambles. We didn't deserve a single thing against Chelsea yesterday, and we've probably thrown away the season by buying Berbatov.

I would never have bought Berbatov, if it were up to me. I was pro-Berba before we bought him, but the minute we got up to £20m + I thought we should have gone for Tevez. But no, we spend £31m on a lump of lard who broke a sweat for the first time in his United career yesterday. When he fell over.

It showed what a poor team we currently have. It's filled with world-class players, who don't necessarily work together. So, I drew up a plan. Sorta.

First off, I want to compare what we had in '99 to what we have now. Look at the United squad that won the Treble in '99.

During the summer of 1998, we signed Jaap Stam for £10.75m, Jesper Blomqvist for £4.4m, and Dwight Yorke for £12.6m. We signed players that strengthened an already strong team. First XI's included Schmeichel (probably one of the world's greatest keepers), Gary Neville (in his prime, one of the quickest and best right backs in the world), Beckham (STILL an England international - which proves how good he STILL is), Stam (one of the best signings Fergie has ever made), Andy Cole (a goalscorer who could make chances as well as put them in), Giggsy (one of the best providers of the ball Europe has ever seen), Dwight Yorke (who formed one of the greatest strike partnerships in the history of United with Cole), Scholesy (who is still one of the best passers of the ball in the world), plus two super-subs in Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (who won us the Treble...), and a captain in the form of Roy Keane (who knew exactly what to do when the team was in trouble).

Now compare that to the summer of 2009. We signed Luis Antonio Valencia, for a fee of about £17m. Proving to be worth that. Then we signed Owen and Obertan, both of whom are strikers, and both havn't shown ANY reason why they should have a Red Devil on their chest. We lost Ronaldo and Tevez in one summer, and didn't replace them with anyone. So lets look at the team and squad now.

We've still got the stalwarts of Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs. A sturdy keeper in teh shape of Edwin van der Sar. A lethal striker with Wayne Rooney, and a runaround midfield in Darren Fletcher. Valencia and Nani on the wings. A sub for them with Park. A quick left back in Evra, and a strong defence with Rio and Vidic too.

But thats where it goes downhill. Big money was spent on the likes of Owen Hargreaves, Anderson and Berbatov. Nearly £75m, to be precise. These were players who were meant to make us Treble winners again. They've become lazy, lethargic and very injury-prone.

Then we have the players who were good. Emphasise on the word 'were'. Michael Carrick, Wesley Brown, Ben Foster, Tomasz Kusczcak, Jonny Evans and Federico Macheda all fall into that bracket. We want players who are willing to play for teh best club in the world, not the players who will stay for a bit just to lengthen their international career, or to get a ticket home, or just sit there collecting £60,000 a week.

So, here's my fore-mentioned plan. We won the Treble with a team that was young, attacking and incredibly enthusiastic. We're losing everything currently because we have a team made up of lazy, money-hungry players. So, lets compare again. I've built a new team, using the Treble XI. If that makes any sense...

First, you need to ditch the deadwood. Make more funds available - including the remaining Ronaldo £50m we have. Berba, Carrick, Brown, Foster and Kusczcak, Hargreaves, Anderson, Tosic, and all the crappy reserve players we have go. I reckon that leaves us with about £130m to play with.

So then you rebuild the squad properly.

GK - Peter Schmeichel
Currently, van der Sar fills this job perfectly. But in two seasons time, he'll be gone, and we'll start the Schmeichel hunt again. So buy now, and train. Manuel Neuer, from Schalke,  fits the bill, and does David de Gea, from Atletico Madrid. I reckon we need to spend about £10m on one of those to get the right man.

RB - Gary Neville
Gary Nev stays for as long as it takes. He's on the verge of the World Cup squad, so theres no need to replace yet. Besides, Rafael will come in eventually for him. So we save on that. If not, I'll stick my neck out and say sign Cesar Azpilicueta, from Osasuna. A natural wing back, he has broken into the Spain U21, and seems to be doing well.

CB - Jaap Stam
We have Rio. Now Rio is good, but he's not great anymore. 'He'll do', as the saying goes. We need a Stam. We have that in Vidic - hard tackler who will get the job done. So it's another hunt around I guess. Someone like Gary Cahill, from Bolton, or Jack Rodwell, from Everton. Ideally, though, we go abroad, to keep prices down. I reckon we have a good two years left in Rio, but after one, he'll begin to phase out. Maybe try and get Pique back from Barca.

CB - Ronny Johnsen
Now he was just like Rio, but better. He worked so well with Stam, and that's exactly what Vidic does. Get him signed to a long term deal. Give him what he wants to keep him at the club.

LB - Dennis Irwin
Now he was a man who had the club tattooed to his heart. Dennis was a class act, and currently we have Patrice Evra. Nuff said. Keep him here as well - get him a new contract too.

RW - David Beckham
When we lost Becks, we lost the biggest player we could have done. It was a massive problem, and we still haven't exactly solved it. Nani is good, but not great. So we need to solve that one. I'd get David Silva in, from Valencia. Okay, it may cost upwards of £20m, but it would be totally worth it to get the right man in.

CM - Roy Keane
A captain, a brilliant midfielder, and a dedicated man. Do we have ANY of these in someone like Michael Carrick? No. Sell 'im. Get rid. Bring in someone good. Maybe go for someone like Rene Krhin? A young player that has room for improvement, who plays for Inter Milan. About £13m will get him. Or we go down therisky route, and try and sign Cambiasso.....

CM - Paul Scholes / Nicky Butt
Now here's a key one. Scholesy is the man behind every single pass. He is what keeps us ticking. And Butt was just a runner. He kept going and going and going. So how do you replace that? Well Scholsey will stay for a bit, but then what? We need to act quick. I reckon Javi Martinez. A lot of Spanish players coming out, but then again, they are the best country in the world... Or even Marek Hamsik, from Napoli? He'd be good.

LW - Ryan Giggs / Jesper Blomqvist
We have Nani again, and Valencia. Valencia has proven he is amazingly quick, and also is willing to put himself into palces he won't necessarily get to normally. So build him into a starting role, and swap him with Nani.

ST - Andy Cole
Andy Cole. What can you say? A goal machine. Who else can you compare him to, than Wayne Rooney?!

ST - Dwight Yorke
Dwight and Andy had one of teh greatest partnerships in the history of the club. So did Wayne and Ruud, Wayne and Carlos, Wayne and... Karim Benzema? If we can get him on loan for next season, amazing. If not, then Stevan Jotevic? Play 4-4-1-1, and play him off Wayne? Or do we play Wayne off another striker, like Sergio Aguero? Spend £45m, and egt him. He's a star of the future.

Then you have your key subs, but that's up to Fergie I guess...

Anyway, we need a new backroom team, who know what the club are all about. If Mourinho does decide to come in, then we get Laurent Blanc, Jaap Stam, van der Sar (when he retires), and the King, Eric Cantona. And then when each stalwart retires, we give them a coaching role. Simple.

Build the team around the fans, and the fans will build the team.

Today goes to HESTON BLUMENTHAL. I'm a massive fan of his, and he was on Jonathan Ross 'tonight', which made Mum and I laugh for an absolute age. It was brilliant, and the programme coming on in the next couple of weeks looks good too. I lvoe what he tries to do with food.

Plus, I've decided, that if I ever win the lottery, it's a trip to The Fat Duck! £140 for a meal..... Hmmmmmm.

Friday 2nd April 2010 - The List

After yesterday's brilliantly worked stunt (of which 12 people have told me they fell for it - classic!), I thought I'd apologise with a small gift. Today, ladies and gentlemen, for the first time ever, I have compiled THE LIST.

Now all of you will have a list. Isobel and I certainly do. You know, the list of the people you 'would' if you could. I sat down and wrote out the list of people who stuck to my rules. Yes, I have rules for my list.

They have to be people I genuinely find attractive, and also people I have liked for a little while now. Also, they can't repeat 'roles'. You'll understand in a sec.

So, here goes. A world exclusive for you!

THE GORGEOUS ONE - EVA LONGORIA PARKER
- Not only talented at what she does, but my teenage crush. Loved her since I saw the second series of Desperate Housewives, so have been in love with this woman for years.

THE MUSICAL ONE - KYLIE MINOGUE
- Musical in a nice way - there are plenty of other musicians who could have made it on! As a 41-year-old, Kylie is beautiful, and also very talented. Plus she has a cool laugh.

THE OLD ONE - EMMA THOMPSON
- It sounds so rude, but she's 50, and still absolutely stunning. A beautiful smile, and she's witty too. Class.

THE FUNNY ONE - TINA FEY
- So so quick, and so so beautiful. I only found out about ehr recently, but wow, she is really gorgeous. I would.

THE STAR ONE - BEYONCE
- Ask any bloke in the world, and this woman is on that list somewhere. Beyonce is the standard on any list. Even females. This woman is a global list star. (Oh, and has beautiful eyes too.)

THE IMPORTANT ONE - MICHELLE OBAMA
- Oh come on, I'm allowed a guilty pleasure. This woman is probably the most powerful woman in the world, and still manages to amke herself look gorgeous. Now THAT is power.

There's the 6 who start. I know, no Mariah! No Christine Bleakley either. But until a role arrives thats suitable for them, or until they do something amazing to boost up their points, then they stay off! Obviously, I'll keep updating - I'll let you know what goes on!

And there's still only one in the realistic world on my list. Thought I'd better clear that up!

Hopefully that makes up for my brilliant April Fool yesterday!

Today goes to FINISHING. Today was the end of the school term, end of The Chronicle's second issue stuff, and also, brings the end to something else.

For those of you who have read from the beginning, you will all know that Day Dedication has run since 14th September, and the initial plan was to run it till Christmas. I had such fun doing it, I carried on, and we've come to a point now where repition is very close to happening, and I'm slowly running out of ideas. So whats best for Day Dedication now?

Do we keep going, and hope that things turn around a little bit? Do we choose a finishing date and build towards it? Or do we tie things up right now, and start with something completely new in May?

Things aren't gonna turn around - its the Easter holidays. Nothing BIG will happen. We're not picking a finishing date, because the last time we tried that, everything went pear shaped when I announced I'd continue it. So it leaves me one option.

Its been a brilliant journey - one I'd love to continue. I've enjoyed every second, and will continue to share all my stories with you. Thankyou Day Dedicatees.

Oh, one more thing?

Check the date.

You really think I'd jack it all in?! Theres plenty left in this tank before we run out of gas. Besides, Late Lent started today, and I've gotta keep you updated on that! Late Lent Day #1 went quite well, a lot of cutting back! But yes, to clarify, I'm still here, we're still ehre and we'll keep going till it comes to a proper end!

FINISHING, you are the Day Dedicatee for Thursday 1st April 2010.
