Sunday 7th March 2010 - Nothing

I realised earlier, that we haven't actually had just a blog. Without anything. So today's blog, goes to, basically, NOTHING.

We've had a blog update - the whole thing has changed over the last few weeks, and the concept has swapped a little bit. But there needs to be a moment to reflect really.

So that’s what today is all about. I'm not dedicating to anything, so I can look at what this ahs actually become. Let’s put things into perspective - since the 14th September, we've had over 1,000 blog hits. That may not sound a lot in the space of time, but for a small, independently run blog, that’s a lot. The Haiti Appeal blogs received over 250 link hits, of which a fair few people did actually donate. So not only are my readers good enough people to actually sit there and read this thing, but you are also willing to help those in need. It’s a great feeling to know that we can actually make a difference.

The original idea of this blog was to create a sort-of 'cult' - something where people can come together, and enjoy each other’s company whilst not knowing each other. If you look at the success of places like Twitter - whereas people can talk to others as friends, but never actually meeting them - that’s what I wanted to create. And we have done that. We've achieved the ultimate goal. We are all a team, we have all come together, and we showed a united front. The Haiti Appeal proved that.

But the main point of my blog was to show people you can be who you want to be. The last 18 months have been remarkably tough for me - a lot of things have happened that I didn't really want to happen. Then a little shining glimmer of hope came along, and since the 9th of June last year, everything has changed, and I've never been happier with life. Everything has fallen into place, and it’s amazing to watch. And I no longer care what other people think of me, or what I do, because they are the ones who aren't willing to accept. They will be the people who will have one type of friend - they will all be the same. Whereas those of us who accept will be the ones who are happy around anyone.

The person who best describes what is going on? Lady Gaga. She told us at her concert that she doesn't want us to connect with her, but connect with others. Because we all had something in common, and even though we may not normally approach the people we speak to, they are the ones that will mean the most.

So today, I guess, is the slow start to a glorious end. We've had a lot of fun with this, and we've had some lows as well, but I want to kill it before the fun is drained out of it. So I'm coming up with some new ideas for a new blog, and eventually, we'll be moving on, and hopefully you'll come on the new journey with me, but you need to know, this isn't dead and buried yet.

Cos we've only just started.

NOTHING, you are the Day Dedicatee for Sunday 7th March 2010.
