We finally got back today, having had a brilliant week, and I've been sat catching up on blogs, emails and complaints all afternoon, to make sure I can cook, clean and sleep tomorrow.
But I sat down this evening to finally catch up on Casualty, and I've never been so moved over a piece of British drama in my life. The programme was so beautiful, and today goes to DECLAN EAMES, the director of tonight's episode.
It followed the storyline of original cast member Megan, who had terminal cancer, and close friend Charlie, of whom she asked for help to commit suicide. Tess then got involved and emotionally attached, and it was the story of how she got through her battle, and then how the two of them let Megan kill herself. It was so beautifully written, so wonderfully acted and shot, and had me in pieces by the end of it.
If this one episode doesn't win awards for how well it was made, then nothing will.
DECLAN EAMES, you are the Day Dedicatee for Saturday 7th August 2010.
Watched the Megan/Charlie episode and agree that Declan Eames, director, deserves an award for this episode - controversial and excellently directed. Back in 1999 Declan produced and directed GREY VOYAGERS for APB (Aus) and I was featured in one of the episodes where Declan's team and myself flew to NY and travelled by Amtrak train from NY to San Francisco with 3 stops to meet my 3 seniorchat-room buddies in Upper NY State, Wisconsin and Denver. Am now 82 with 4 great-grandchildren and hoped to contact Declan again. That's how I finished up here. If you see this Declan my email is katchaw@mac.com.
